Every author who attends the Author emPact Summit will …
- Have two 5-minute opportunities to speak to the group at large in a formal setting. There are two different stage settings (which are highlighted in the video above) to provide a variety of footage for the speaker reel and speaking photo shots. Attendees can (and should) bring at least two changes of clothes for their speaking opportunities.
- Provide brief but meaningful testimonials for other authors/speakers in attendance. (Testimonials will be incorporated into speaker reels.)
- Participate in b-roll footage that will be utilized in all speaker reels.
- Participate in a 30-minute author brand photo session and receive 5 digital photos from the session.
- Participate in a headshot photo shoot and receive 2 digital photos from the session.
- Participate in a 30-minute author video interview that will be incorporated in the speaker reel.
- Engage in a half-day group marketing strategy intensive designed to perfect marketing tools needed for their speaking business, which includes speaker pitch and key messaging, speaker bio, speaker introduction, speaker one-sheet, speaking topics, and more.
Attendees will receive:
- A 2-3 minute speaker reel.
- 5 digital photos from their author branding photo session.
- 2 digital photos from their author headshot photo session.
- 4 digital photos of them speaking during their two speaking opportunities.
- A 2-page digital speaker one-sheet, an industry-specific tool to secure speaking engagements.
- The first 6 authors who secure their spot will receive the opportunity for a 20-minute one-on-one marketing strategy session that will be recorded and featured on The emPowered Author Podcast.
Lunch is included on day 1 and breakfast and lunch are included on day 2. Attendees are invited to a networking dinner the evening of day 1, but the meal is not included in the investment of the Summit.
Additional add-ons for authors to consider include:
- Hair and Make-up: Professional hair and makeup can be available for authors who are interested. Please inquire to learn more.
- Author Brand Development: While not required, having an author brand in place prior to the event will ensure that all assets align beautifully. The emPower PR Group is equipped to help develop an author brand if needed.

While the emPower PR Group typically focuses on helping nonfiction authors with their book marketing needs, the Author emPact Summit is open to any author – nonfiction or fiction alike – who wants to take their message from their pages and share it on stages. Whether you are already a professional speaker or looking to become one, we know the marketing assets you need to help you get there, and we’ve created this immersive event to help you walk away prepped and ready to achieve the success you are seeking.
Space is limited to 15 author attendees.
Let’s take a moment to get into the nitty gritty specifics. The pandemic has made it challenging for authors who are wanting to build or grow a speaking business to get the visual marketing assets they need to pitch themselves with ease. This event is poised to allow authors to do what we do best – support one another in spreading our messages!
Through group marketing strategy sessions, attendees will work closely with the emPower PR Group’s chief strategist, Stephanie Feger, to articulate their promotional messaging to pitch themselves for paid speaking engagements as well as develop the tools needed to execute that pitch.
Attendees will take part in 2 speaking opportunities allowing them to share 5 minutes of a message that they want to speak on stages of all sizes as well as provide video testimonials for other authors to use in their promotional materials. This footage will allow Chris Drouin of the emPower PR Group to develop a 2-3 minute speaker reel to use in their promotional efforts.
Professional photos are also a meaningful part of every author’s book and business journey. Chanel Wells-Henderson of the emPower PR Group will round out your marketing asset toolkits with 2 author headshots, a 30-minute brand photo session, and 4 photos of you on stage to use in your marketing efforts.
The 2-day event is jam-packed and filled to the brim with value. This event is a great fit for you if you are an author who wants to build or grow a speaking business.

Absolutely! There is benefit in community, and authors make some of the best supporters out there. To ensure all attendees walk away with amazing footage, photos and overall experience, it requires everyone to participate for the entire event.
The Author emPact Summit takes place in Jeffersonville, Indiana, right outside of Louisville, Kentucky.
If you are traveling from out-of-town to attend, make sure to book your flight into Louisville’s airport (SDF). It is less than 20 minutes from our event location.
As for hotel recommendations, you are welcome to secure a hotel in Downtown Louisville or the Sheraton Louisville Riverside Hotel is very close to the building where we will be having our event in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Health and safety are important to us. While we don’t have a mask mandate requirement, we do ask that all attendees be aware of their health and proactively take measures to ensure that they do not put others at risk who are attending should they show signs or symptoms of concern.
